The Fully Realized Beauty of SSBM
Super Smash Bros. Melee is nowadays seen by Americans and praised for its competitive playing scene, and that is what the game is now known for, competitive. And, it is indeed pretty cool, and hype! But... It seems that, well that is the only thing people see the game for now. So many new players that, never played the game then or never played the game normally, to unlock things, to play everything of the game it-self, to have fun. Newer players are just gonna install the Slippi emulator, just for, well, of course, competitive fighting, and they just pick Fox because it is often ranked number 1 in the common rankings of characters, and keep trying to flex their shine without really knowing anything else, just to compensate for their lack of experience. (and fail at that) The new players have never played on any other stage other than the currently 6 tournament legal ones because of Slippi. The game is simply not fully appreciated nowadays by the general audience. Forget Slippi, if you wanna appreciate an online experience, get Dolphin's newest betas, it runs good! But that is not what it is all about, we'll talk about... To Completion - Understanding
You start the game, so few characters, unlike Slippi, which comes with everything already, so why should i bother to complete my self? Well, with hard work, you get rewarded, and you want to try your rewards out, whether it's a trophy, a stage, or a character. Like this, you can start realizing, and appreciating things more easily, or even understand what it means. What Characters mean when you unlock them
Doctor Mario has strange quirks to set him-self appart... an up smash that, bounces the opponent off the ground...? a sweep kick that sends the opponent behind you...?! A reverse sex-kick that becomes stronger the longer it's active?! No character has that! Take for instance, their up tilts. Mario's sends them up so you can start air combos / juggles, whereas Dr. Mario's sends them out if you hit your opponents the wrong way, making Dr. Mario use it in a more purposeful way if he wants to set up a combo with it. Despite Dr. Mario being more powerful than Mario, his moves are usually more disjointed, requiring you to get closer, and taking more risks. As to why Mario was plain and simple, is that he is the safe bet, jack of all traits for beginners, everybody knows Mario, so you'd trust him when starting, right? Now that you know the first step, it is time to get more technical.
