The OTHER Strip Fighter II(s)!

Obviously tho, with that name it indicates it's a porn game. Though, it is a tad impressive what a bootleg team could do from scratch for the PC-E despite being a porn game, it is a Street Fighter II-like fighting game, and that, i can give credit.

But... Of course, with such an obvious pun for a porn game parodying Street Fighter II... There might be more, and wouldn't you know, there was a Strip Fighter II released BEFORE the PC-Engine one. Strip Fighter II, for the Sharp X68000, released in August 1992, developed by SouthernCatCherry. And no, this is completely unrelated to the PC-E one.

Despite so, there are 3 versions of the game, the first from August 1992, the second from December 1992, and the Dash version from 1993, this page will mostly be talking about the Dash version, as... well... (enough foreshadowing)
On to the game...

First Impressions

Upon booting, you are presented with a, fairly basic title screen, with the cast of characters being on display with a cutesy style, it also plays a nice jingle.
Upon hitting start it plays the Street Fighter II coin sound, and leads us directly into the character select screen. No options, no credits, no... nothing? I guess it's no big deal, but you realize, it doesn't even have a versus mode, that is... very strange for a fighting game, isn't it?

Guess i'll go with Honey...

Like Street Fighter II, there are 8 playable characters. Since it's called Strip Fighter II, i was assuming these 8 characters are weird cat-girl representations of the actual Street Fighter II cast, but... Eh? Speaking of which... Man, these portraits do not give a good first impression, people find funny The World Warrior's portraits, but this? This...? What the hell are with these squashed faces noclipping into stretched bananas? No insult to the art style, but they look really off, specially compared to the title screen.
I thought Hotaru: Ryu; Huri: Chun Li; Pythia: Guile; Klyta: Blanka- But that was just wishful thinking. (^ ^) They have nothing to do with Street Fighter II's roster indeed, they exist.
On to a fight, and... Uhhhh...?

Oh, of course, Strip Fighter II, what, you expected this to be a fighting game? Of course not!

I'm kidding. Well, with a name like that, it had to be a fighting game, didn't it? Instead... Card fighters! Damn, that's disappointing, this doesn't leave me with much faith, but, hey...! It could be fun, right? ...Right? What about the sexyness? The music is still alright...

Features

It's uhhhh... Confusing... Your first move, most likely won't even work lol.

Well, you have to pick two cards in order to do your move, there are plenty, but not many. You have to consider what sets a card appart is the symbol above the attack, some combinations work better than others / different effects, you got punch and kicks, healing cards, upgrade cards (place it first then the attack card), well, i don't know how to get into much detail, oh yeah, from here? I'll just move to the Dash version. To be honest, the previous versions are pointless. This one did add continues (yeah, i kid you not, if you lost once, it was game over imedietally before), enhanced music, a new character, and slightly better graphics. Yeah, some effort for once... There are special attacks, and if this is Dash or v2, they even speak with PCM samples! This whole game just feels like a glorified Card-Jitsu, but worse. Card-Jitsu had a lot more strategy and possibilities, but this? You basicaly just pick whatever cards you have and it might be useless, whereas Card-Jitsu, again, there are always possibilities and never a game fault.

He knew it was a problem, so, Dash also adds a button to trash cards you don't want, because it was indeed kinda shit how it worked. Wow, this kind of game, tried to improve it-self? Crazy, maybe he didn't see it as just a five-minute fame game. Though... Seems unlikely still considering everything else. This, is the version to play, if you are a masochist that is, no one in the right mind should play this game.

Aaand there is a card that undresses, i'm not entirely sure what it does, it seems like the heart bars below the health bars have 2 types, one is for how stronger you can be and the other for how vulnerable you can be. I think, i can't say for sure, they overlap each other. And no, i'm not showing the ones with nudity, ya dirty bastard!
(actually... i feel dirty right now playing this... T-T)
Upon winning, you get a picture of the opponent where... Grrr, I'm not even showing with how terrible these are, i hate these nasty pictures... It seems like the Dash version has at least censored some-what the thing in between the legs, whereas before... Ugh...

In-fact, there is basicaly no animation in this game, every portrait and thing is just, static, with no special effects other than the screen flashing or something. Of course, limited memory, it's the 90s, but, i believe it's because of the aforementioned wet pictures taking up too much memory, they are fullscreen pictures, and utterly pointless and makes my eyes regret from existing.

I hate porn, why am i reviewing this...

(because it's the OTHER Strip Fighter II nobody knows! what a sad excuse...)
Oh yeah, and the Dash version of the game finally added a 2 player versus mode, like... that's the bare minimum man...
(version 2 added more PCM samples, for music and sound effects, and also added a soundtest, and the actual developer name)

And... That's it...?

I don't think there is much else to talk about how this thing plays, it's self explanatory, it's not the worst thing ever but you'll probably get bored. I don't feel like beating this game... Yet...

Is the sexyness much better? Ehh, it's sub-par. The music is... Actually alright, specially v2 and Dash, it has a friendly cute sound to it, kinda reminds me of old ZUN's songs... But... That's... Basicaly it for the game.

Now that i think about it, why is it even called Strip Fighter II? The only reason i'm bothering about it now, is because it is in-fact a funny pun, and because there is another Strip Fighter II except this one, no one talks about. But it could've been called anything. Also, why is it on the Sharp X68000? I know PCs had a lot of porn games like this one, but, the X68000, the over-priced machine that could do so much! As well as run arcade perfect ports of Capcom games, like Street Fighter II... Huh... Is that why?

Now that i think about it... Anything that is porn... Basicaly doesn't care about anything but the sexyness, well, if you ask me, what is the point then? It just gives me a headache any ways to watch this kind of thing, it has nothing to it, it doesn't feel earned, realistic, ever! If this game is to teach a lesson, is that, well... Play for all the game has to offer, and rate all of it, rather than just seeking it for one thing.

There is a reason why nobody wants to talk about it, it's because... Well... What is there to talk about? Strip Fighter II PC-E is infinitly better than this, actually, it's not even comparable! This game has nothing to do with Street Fighter II, but the PC-E one does.

This truly is the kind of game that belongs to the Home For Infinite Losers.

I'll leave this game's soundtrack here, it has no uploads or anything on the Internet. (eventually)

Lasting Effects

I feel like my brain has absolutely rotted this weekend because of this game... I feel like, i'm starting to think more about life and sexualization... Y'know, what am i doing? When i think deeply about it after trying this... Why. Why do i have to get so gitty for booby pussy stuff? No offense, they are nice but... egh... This game just makes me feel like avoiding my hands getting dirty this easily, it feels like taking it too far, maybe i should in-fact go back and focuse on my work instead of this, the stuff for kids... Can be nice for grown-ups too y'know, the timeless kind. Lets just see bossoms as just, y'know, it's a normal part of some one that is always there, instead of something this special to keep focusing on to. You can't take that away from some one.
(not to say it's no longer good for sex but that should be secondary, not primary)

Don't make me play Fight! Pussycats so soon, yes, it might be related to this game, and wouldn't you know it is actually a fighting game for once, but... Man i just don't wanna deal with this anymore, it's just... ugh...
