The Street Fighter EX series was well received, the first 3D Street Fighter, and it was pretty solid, not made by Capcom, instead, Arika.
But... What happened in EX3? It launched alongside the Playstation 2, but, all of the sudden it was bad? Far from the truth. No idea how this game got a bad reputation, considered to be one of the worst Street Fighters at the time, uhhhhh...? Harsh early 2000s teenagers i suppose. -.-;
Maybe it was the graphics and presentation, not living up to the expectations, nor do they look much better than EX2, remember, this was a launch game, but, in my opinion, the game looks fine actually! But that is subjective, i believe they just saw at the character models, which, yeah, look inconsistent.
Sakura looks semi-realistic.
Blanka looks like... Yeah...
Chapter 2: Graphics are important, but not everything!!
This is what was hiding underneath... not too bad graphics and simple presentation? I played Street Fighter games before, Alpha 2 is my favorite! But what is my runner-up? EX3, if EX3 had a better presentation, ohohoh, it'd be the best Street Fighter game, but what makes EX3 secretly so great? Well, lets start with how this is a tag battle Street Fighter game, something often left for the Marvel fighters from Capcom, but here, it is a Street Fighter one primarily. Quite unusual!
I swear, this game makes all characters fun to play, even characters i don't normally play as in other games, i feel incentivized to play as them all! Why? The tag team mechanics, this game's singleplayer is short, but really involved since you can pick who gets be in your team, if you play on Hard, saying "no" to any character means game over lol- I mean, yeah, because of that, i feel like i'll pick any character i can, so, for example, i never picked Zangief in other games, but here tho, i tried him out because of the tagging, and he was fun! I feel like i want to keep trying him out again, and now i was leaving really liking Garuda! Oh, and when you tag in this game, you have a moment to control both of your characters AT THE SAME TIME, and it can leave for so many possibilities, so much potential, so many things! And what else? You can cancel specials into other specials, and supers into other supers, and this game has juggles, it is amazing what you can pull off with enough practice in this game, it is hype as hell! Yeah, this is broken, yes, the game can be loose with these mechanics, but, isn't it just so cool? Even if you lost to this, you'd be amazed wouldn't you? Better be broken than boring, heh...
Chapter 3: Simple presentation, but amazing music!!
Most of the music of EX3 is however, re-used from Street Fighter EX + Alpha, but, is that really a bad thing? That game's soundtrack was amazing! My favorite Street Fighter soundtrack! So it is a good thing right? Besides, there are new songs for the new characters of EX3, and for singleplayer stages, which they sound amazing still! So, should you blame? I actually think the music of EX3 is better than Street Fighter II's CPS-1 music, i just bloody adore it... Yes, there is a better Guile theme than that one, at least, in my opinion, and it's right here!
And also this ^^
While dissappointing that there are no ending FMVs, i actually still enjoy reading the text for the endings, they are interesting, and can make me think regardless, it makes me feel something regardless as well.
Chapter 4: Unfortunately, stuck on the Playstation 2... u.u;
As much as i wish i could just tell you to go right away and play Street Fighter EX3... This game is stuck on the Playstation 2, no arcade versions or anything, which also means, there is no way to play this game online basicly, but...! You can use Parsec and PCSX2 probably! It is not very ideal, but it is what we got, but if you have real life buddies, or friends, or people who like Street Fighter, get your self a copy of EX3 for your Playstation 2, and have a blast! You'll realize how this game is not as bad as many people had once thought.
